<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">To date there have been six Star Wars movies: Star Wars, Empire, Jedi, Phantom Menace, Clones, and Sith.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>There are varying views from fans around the world as to the order one should view these remarkable movies.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>The list above is in the order they were released; however many people believe they should be watched in the intra-movie chronology which would be Phantom Menace, Clone, Sith, Star Wars, Empire and Jedi.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>Some argue the intra-movie chronology would be best introduced to younger audiences who have not seen any of the Star Wars movies in order for them to make more sense; while others argue to introduce younger audiences to the Star Wars movies in the order they were replaced originally.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">Star Wars is the brainchild of filmmaker George Lucas and was first released in May of 1977.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>It quickly became a pop culture phenomenon and generated two more major motion pictures which were released in three-year intervals.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>It wasn&#8217;t until 16 years later that the pre-quarrels began to make an appearance, also in three-year intervals with the first one being released in May of 2005.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">Again the Star Wars movies generated thousands of merchandise including toys, backpacks, lunchboxes, items for a day at the beach such as a </span><a href="http://www.justbeachtowels.com/collections/fronpage/products/the-clone-wars-star-wars-beach-towel"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">Star Wars beach towel</span></a><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">, toothpaste, kites and just about any kind of item from calculators to hand cream.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>The merchandising end of Star Wars was almost as big as the movies itself.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">The Star Wars franchise has spawned other items besides merchandise such as media including comic books, video games, books and television shows.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>This is known as the Star Wars Expanded Universe.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">The Star Wars movie franchise has been nominated for several Academy Awards; however Star Wars IV has won the most awards for art direction-set decoration; costume design; film editing; music &#8211; original score; sound mixing, and visual effects.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>George Lucas was nominated for Best Director but did not win this category.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>The only other win for Star Wars motion picture was for sound mixing for The Empire Strikes Back.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>Each and every movie has been nominated for at least one Academy award in some category with the most going to A New Hope &#8211; Star Wars IV.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">There have been several cartoon spinoffs of Star Wars for the younger generation including </span><a href="http://www.starwars.com/"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">Star Wars</span></a><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">: Droids which featured the travels of R2-D2 and C-3PO; Star Wars: Ewoks, and Star Wars: Clone Wars which was featured on Cartoon Network.</span></p>
